As this key verse of the Bible testifies, the Good News is, above all, an extravagant gift motivated by love: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

The Bible clearly states that we reap what we sow: “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” (2 Corinthians 9:6)
God has taught us (my wife and me) to be generous with the work of God, to support missionaries, pastors, churches…in short, to give into the Kingdom of God. I say this without pride because this was sometimes a painful learning process, as generosity didn’t come naturally for me…
Nature is a wonderful teacher: a farmer can only reap what he sows. The Bible teaches us that it’s the same with money. It might seem strange to sow your money, but if we do it the right way in the right place with the right heart, it works!
I’ve experienced this so many times I can’t even count! I’ve learned that when God establishes a law, it works…period. I don’t have to understand the law of gravity to know that when I drop something, it will fall to the ground. Gravity is a law, just like the law of reaping what we sow.
If you give to God, Emily, you won’t lose what you give Him. Quite the opposite…you sow into His field! One day, you will reap what you’ve sown in one way or another…God is indebted to no one and everything under heaven is His. (see the Bible, Job 41:11)
Our gift simply has to be intentional…in other words, done for the Lord, with the right heart, not grudgingly or of necessity. (see the Bible, 2 Corinthians 9:7)
Today, let’s thank God for His generosity and ask Him to manifest His generous nature through us!
