Before you pray, “God, be with us,” or “Fall upon us, Holy Spirit,” or “Holy Spirit, we invite your presence,” think about where God is at that moment.
Did He go somewhere else, that you need to ask Him to come back? Where was He before you drove off? Was He in the trunk, waiting for you to pray for ‘traveling mercies,’ otherwise He wouldn’t keep you safe? Where did He go before the church service? Was He hiding on the roof, and wouldn’t come till you asked Him to join you? 😁
Think about the significance of God saying, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Think about how Christ actually lives in you (Gal 2:20), and you in Him, and in fact how you are “one spirit” with Him” (1 Cor 6:17). God has never told us to “summon” Him, but has told us that He Himself is our life (Col 3:4).
Not only that, but spiritually speaking, we are seated together with Him in the heavenly places! (Eph 2:6)
This is the reality of how close to and with God you are at all times! He never ceases being present with you. Rather than requesting God to make it happen, live from the fact that it’s already always your reality.
