The True Love of Christ

Our first love and true love is in Jesus Christ. His love is one that encompasses all love. The agape (God kind of love, unconditional, sacraficial) love and grace that we are afforded as children of God is more than enough to sustain us, even in dry places. Human desire for companionship and loyalty from other human beings is a frailty that we live with, however it shouldn’t define who we are and change our perspective on whether we are/have love. It should also not reduce our definition of true love to the culmination of good feelings or bad feelings.

Love is action and sacrafice. As believers, we are in a perpetual state of being loved by our heavenly Father. That love never changes regardless of our station in life. It happens without reciprocation. ‘Feeling’ like you’ve never been loved or had love is relative to what you know about your identity in Christ.

You were created in true love, you are loved beyond any human measure and the reality of love is that we are tethered to it forever, protected by it and surrounded by it always. Love never leaves us. When we open our eyes to that reality, nothing superficial (like a short lived relationship or not having a certain relationship status) can take our focus off of the truth of real, unconditional love.
